I cannot believe you are stuck on blaming our WR core for Ponder's miscues. Yes we need help but a good QB's make decent WR'look good. If we do not look for a new QB in the upcoming draft or free agency and make our primary focus WR's next year at this time you will have come around and will be agreeing that we need a new QB. The problem is that AP and PH will be a year older. They are in their prime we owe it to them to give them a shot to be a winner. We need to support them with a decent QB now not later.

At this point, I'm expecting EVERY offensive play to break down. For whatever reason, the QB is getting flushed (or is flushing himself) out of the pocket. As such, it begs the question. Whether it's Ponder or Webb, who has the BEST skill sets to turn a busted play into yards and points? THIS folks is the question the coaching staff needs to be asking themselves...and answering. It's great to say that in a relatively controlled practice setting, one QB is more accurate than the other and to somehow extrapolate that measure into "expected" game-time performance. It's another to have a feel for this game and to make the right decision at QB based on current known circumstances (game-time performance measures). If we needed to ALWAYS go by the book and follow conventional wisdom, we could have kept Dennis Greene as our coach. Today's NFL requires coaching skills that rise above conventional wisdom and make the right decisions based on a knowledge AND intuitive FEEL for the game. I've grown old and weary watching Minnesota make predictable and self-limiting decisions. It seems as though they're interested in covering their tracks more than making the bold decisions necessary to be successful....and so, we find ourselves remarkable only in the sense that we hold the lowest ranking pass offense in the NFL and continue to reward our QB with more play time to prove he's more accurate??? Great. Maybe they should practice busting every play the way it happens during every game and see who performs better under those conditions. My guess is Webb wins out...every time. Sure, this could change in time but the season is made up of a discrete number of games. We may already be out of time...this year...again.

The WR's are getting way to much blame here. With the exception of the screen pass to Harvin, Ponder's passes are like lawn darts thrown toward their targets. There are a ton of teams that do not have Top end wide outs and can complete a pass. Ponders picks were on balls and capable DB within 20 yards could have ran over and plucked out of the air. There is not any confident velocity on his throws in tight areas and that is a demand of the NFL. As Frazier put it himself, you have to catch receivers quickly out of their breaks. There are no wide open receivers in the NFL. Even the pass to Wright against Detroit was a lofted lawn dart that he had to cirlce under to catch. But he was wide open and Ponder can make that kind of throw.

The fact that Spielman and Frazier, refuse to bench Ponder, no matter how poorly he plays, just proves there incompetence. Time for Zygi, to start handing out some pink slips, or he will risk losing attendance, at the games, which should be his main concern.

Wasn't Webb drafted as a wide receiver? Why is he never on the field??

steveinvaDec. 5, 1212:48 PM

They don't bench Ponder who messes up at least twice every single game, even wins but basically stop playing Gerhart for fumbling a couple times vs the 49ers. C'mon Fraizer. Also Tebow shredded the Vikings apart last year with deep TD's but he is and never will be an NFL caliber QB. He has played better than Ponder for a season and even took his team to the playoffs and won a game. If he stinks what does that make Ponder? Get a new QB as soon as the season is over before the Vikngs waste another 4 years like they did with TJAC.

kleinharrie said "Wasn't Webb drafted as a wide receiver? Why is he never on the field??" That is a question alot of people have. Either use him as a WR or a QB. If they don't play him he will leave the first chance he gets and go to a team who will play him and come back to bite our a$$ just like Chester Taylor did.

joe_anokaDec. 5, 12 3:22 PM

Chester Taylor is a little extreme but I get where you are coming from...

joe_anokaDec. 5, 12 3:23 PM

Vikings Braintrust and our States Braintrust = All we care about is getting re-elected or re-hired... bottom line!

nodavikesDec. 5, 12 8:03 PM

There are some QB's good at practice and then there are some QB's that just know how to play the game...... Sit the Ponder Blunder for a game and start Vikings version of RG III - Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb (2010 Philly vs Vikings - Webb looked more like early Michael Vick then Vick did) Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb, do you get it?!
