Rand: Fierce rivalries great for fans, but not when they turn violent

We love rivalries. We love good-natured trash-talking between educated fan bases -- groups that know that, at the end of the day, they really aren't that different.

The Green Bay fans near the seats I used to have were good-natured and we always had fun. I hope the games always keep a family atmosphere. I moved to Philly years ago and wouldn't want incidents that happen here or, even worse, at Giants games to happen in MPLS or Green Bay.

The drinking at NFL games is out of control. We have season tix at Lambeau, and you can't bring a child to the game with the language and falling down around us. And it's both our fans and the other teams' fans. Too bad.

From my experience, it takes a lot less than cheering for different football teams to start a fight at most bars.

I sent my mom to a Viking Packer game at the dome as I am a Viking Fan and she is a life long Packer fan. These were my seats and I thought I knew everyone around me and didn't think there would be an issue but she said she would never go again. I did explain to her that she needs to be more thick skinned as I have experienced pretty bad situations at Lambeau as well but never ended up in a bad spot. Fans need to grow up! Packer Fans are everywhere because the State cannot support the ones that grew up there with the economy the way it has been in Wisconsin. Wisconsin people move to the Twin Cities or Chicago to find jobs. My take is the Packer fans need to learn to take a win in stride and not provoke things in a state that is not considered home. Viking fans get real tired of seeing and hearing things that should be kept to themselves thus the rivalry!

It always amazes me that people can get so passionate about a game that is greatly flawed because there are so many injuries and the judgement of referees (more than any other sport) plays such an important role in the outcome.
