The WBC is one big pointless yawner. Nothing compares to the dullness of the NFL's Pro Bowl, but this one's close.

Now if only they would give that same committment to playing for the Twins.

I guarantee we'll hear this as a reason why both get off to slow starts in 2013. "They were thrown off their normal routine...it will take them a while to get back on track...etc etc..." The Twins "excuse machine" has its first one ready to go.

I went to the WBC in 2006 and it was amazing. The Japanese and Korean fans were the craziest I've seen anywhere. Baseball needs something like this and the commenters above don't know what they're complaining about. Seriously, there's more to sports than belly-aching

How about these two focus on actually earning some of the massive money they are paid by the Twins?

Joe Mauer is the biggest primadonna in baseball. the next thing we will here is that he needs time off for a wedding. Lets get it over with and trade him to the Yankees for a .183 utility player.

Oh wait, if we get rid of Mauer, then gardy wont have anyone to tell him who to play in the line up. Oh rats....get rid of gardy also.

Twins commit to actually playing??? I'm glad I wasn't driving when that absurdity rolled across my computer screen. Mauer is only committed to stealing money, and poor Morneau, he should be committed to finding a real team to play for, before his career is over. Rookie6886 has it dead on. Watch the Ryan stooges find someway to use this as an excuse of why M&M are just way too too tired to play, and MN should just understand that they need naps when the big leaguers (like the Yankees) come to town. Lord. The Twins are hopeless.

re: tookieblvd - With all due respect, I could care less about the enjoyment of fans of the Japanese and Korean teams. Part of the problem with sports fans in this town (since you went "there"), is that they accept 95+ loss seasons because, gosh darn it, we tried hard.
