Bob Costas starts a gun control debate with halftime commentary

NEW YORK - Bob Costas' "Sunday Night Football" halftime commentary supporting gun control sparked a Fox News Channel debate Monday on whether NBC should fire him and a Twitter storm involving Ted Nugent, Rosie O'Donnell, Herman Cain and many more.

Bob Costas is right. This country would be so much better off if we were all able to carry guns without government "control". Europe is super dangerous because of their strict gun laws. Meanwhile really safe countries like Somalia have proven that the free use of guns in the general public is a step towards safety and stability. Thank you Bob for setting this straight.

I think some of the outcry that Costas has experienced from this is way over the top. It was a food for thought moment, which for the most part was quoting from a Jason Whitlock column. Never once did Costas state that this country should shelve the 2nd Amendment or guns should be confiscated. It was more an indictment on the gun culture in this country. As usual, the extreme wing of gun owners took offense that anyone would possibly suggest that a few less guns in this country would be a positive. I'm a gun owner and carry permit holder by the way.
