Ponder's play today was absolutely inexcusable -- the biggest game of the year, against our biggest foe and he lays ANOTHER egg. The only thing worse is Coach Leslie's stubbornness to bench him (even for a series to send a message). We needed to WIN, period! Ponder should have been benched after he threw his first INT. There was NO reason to throw that ball! Sure our receivers are not the greatest but Ponder is not even hitting them accurately. (look at he behind the back pass to Rudy and his under throw of a wide open Peterson). Plus, his mechanics and pocket presence are VERY BAD. Bad mechanics, bad decisions, bad accuracy, bad reads. Enough is enough, the Ponder experiment is OVER!

The comment boards have been pretty much the same today. Ponder is not an NFL QB and should be benched. They are home next week against the Bears. After the 1st interception I predict the dome will be louder than it has been all year in a chorus of Boo's It is true the Vikings do not have quality receivers, but Jerry Rice would have trouble catching the behind him and under thrown junk Ponder throws up week after week.

Peterson faces 8 men in the box consistently and still dominates. Haven't seen a single run his entire career that he didn't give it his all. At the start of the 4th quarter, Peterson 210 yards, Ponder 36 & 2 picks in the red zone. The Viking coaches owe Peterson an apology - something like we're sorry we're the most incompetent, inept judges of talent in the NFL & despite two years of abject failure we still we believe Ponder is a starting NFL QB.

I apologize to Adrian for the whole Vikings fan base. Obviously Ponder and Frazier should be the ones aplogizing, but I won't hold my breath for that.

Couple of weeks ago commented on a different article that what is going on with the Vikes since Peterson was drafted is similar (except 2009) to watching Walter Payton play for the Bears in the late 70s early 80s before they became a good team in 1984. Every year Payton became better and better while the Bears went through numerous QBs whom never amounted to much. The only reason the Bears were competitive on offensive was due to Payton running hard every single time he got the ball. After numerous years in the NFL, Payton finally got to the Super Bowl in '85 with that tremendous Bears defense, only to have Ditka not give him the ball when the Bears were inside the 10 yard line twice. I hope Peterson stays focused and stays with the Vikes. I also hope the front office puts aside their ego and really takes a good look at the QB situation for the future. It would be different if Ponder was showing some signs of improvement each week but he continues to not show qualities that are needed in an NFL QB. Awesome work this year Adrian - a joy to watch you and your consistent hard working attitude, hope to see you as a Viking for many years to come.

No need to get excited. It's just another season with the same old results...

After a game like that, what can you say that hasn't been said a million times already. I really feel for AP and for that matter, all of the guys that are really trying to win and avoid a total meltdown. Reality is sometimes cruel but it never lies. The situation speaks for itself!!!

I feel I could have written this script. As others have duly noted, what an inexcusable waste of a hall of fame talent we do possess in AP. Just mind-blowing: I really want to like Ponder. I really do. But when does this guy throw the ball with some zip and authority down the middle of the field? Or deep? (Hah!) Even an occaisonal out pattern? Instead all these floating butterfly hail-Marys that grow more off target with each passing week. The over used bubble screen or otherwise 1 yd lateral pass to the sideline hoping for the missed initial tackle. This is pathetic!...Now I too say: Give Joe Webb a chance.

I don't think i've seen a more excruciating interception save for Favre's against New Orleans. This was like a dagger in the heart, totally deflating and so frustrating after watching such an awe inspired run that was all in vain because of one throw. Ponder keeps coming up flat whenever a big game or big play is needed. It should only take a half to see if he is on or not. What's wrong with letting another quarterback pick this team up when its obvious your starter isn't working? Admit that Ponder is a project. Realize that you have a shot at the playoffs. Either way, if you leave Ponder in there or take him out his confidence gets hammered. So what do you have to lose? You lose more than the playoffs. You lose another season's efforts of one the greatest running backs to play the game. There are no guarantees he will always be playing at the level he is now. To the upper echelon's in the Viking's management: Carpe Diem!

A running back is irrelevant. Even on his best day he can't beat the Green Bay Packers. He just isn't good enough. The vikings should trade him for a player at a more valuable position like WR, CB, QB, or a lineman. The vikes are just wasting all the salary cap money they are spending at RB which does not get them anything.
