Great coach. There was a time when I hoped he'd become the Gophers' coach. Sad day for college basketball.

Along with Don Haskins, one of the greatest coaches of the last half century that we lost too early. RIP.

I followed this guy for most of his career. He was a joy to listen to. He avoided the coach speak, and politically correct with a unique style. He was a basketball junkie, but he cared about learning and the academic side of sport. He had his ownbway of pronouncing words. My favorite was oh fence.

Years ago, when Majerus was mentioned for the U of M job, I remember him saying he couldn't move up here because if he took his shirt off, the mosquitoes would yell "buffet!"

This guy was an outstanding person and excellent coach. I remember what a difference he made when he was at Marquette. He was successful everywhere he went and kids respected him. He'll be missed sorely.

RIP. One of the best. I used to fantasize about him coaching the Gophers.

As you can tell from the comments, he had a lot of fans in Minnesota. He did a lot of interviews for KFAN here and he was a terrific guest. He was funny, astute, knowledgable without being preachy. Easily one of the best commentators of college basketball around. He was also one of the best coaches. There were no scandals with Coach Majerus. None.
