This is great news! A U.S. resource, frac sand, being used to produce another U.S. resource, clean, efficient natural gas. Jobs and energy security.

It is so good to see people who have fought for the American dream realize the benefits, in spite of gov't intervention. The fracking process can re-invigorate the economy of most of the Midwest States, create energy independence, create jobs and in this situation, a deserved retirement for hard working folks. Success will continue if the gov't(federal and state) just stays out of the way.

I hope they can enjoy it now before the Government takes it all back with their intended wealth tax.

Good use of otherwise useless land.... As for those who say it causes cancer.... The sun causes cancer, dope causes cancer... green leafy and root vegetables contain high levels of nitrates.... cancer causes cancer!!!

Scary story, and even scarier comments by the readers who endorse this kind of thing. Great deal for all, except for the environment that is ravaged in the process. A wonderful natural treasure -- the driftless region -- will be absolutely flattened by these dreadful sand mines. Beautiful hills strip mined into oblivion. And no one cares. It's all about the $$. What a country.

for those who scorn the use of fracking sands to recover carbon energy, they should set an example by boycotting all oil and gas products.... PERIOD!!!! I wonder how long they can go w/o heat, fuel, plastics (cell phones, computers) medications, etc.... Bet they wouldn't last a day....
