It was good the Gophers played a lighter team today after the past 4 heavyweights. 3-pointers and turnovers are the offensive achilles heal to the team and it'd be nice to square that away before conference. Marked free throw shooting since the first couple of games. Go Gophers!

Good win at home for long suffering fans. The best part of the game was the turnovers were managed to a minimum of only 13. They still need to work on taking care of the ball. Good to see the bench players get some decent minutes and experience. Just like last yrs NIT run, those bench guys are very valuable.

ARRey sez: This may be the greatest team since the glory days of Jan Gangelhoff, or Mitch Lee, even!

I remember as a young kid secretly listening to a faint WCCO radio signal as my heroes, Turner, Behagen and Brewer did battle with Buckeyes and Hoosiers. Was in attendence in my late teens as McHale and Williams fought(and beat) Louisville in the barn on national TV. I'm hoping my own 18 year old boy, who's a huge Goph fan, might look back on this season with similar memories 30 years from now. Go Gophs!

i dont understand why trevor mbakwe is onthe bench, he is the most talented and productive player on the team. He should not be off the bench. He shoud be with the other starters evenif he is building up his leag strength. To compete with the best they will have to have him lead the team with his ability. Can anyone answer why he isnt starting?

Tubbys handling of Mbakwe seems to be working fine by bringing him along at a slower pace, thus when he does get in he seems more hungry and has more energy. He has been a valuable contributer late in games. Look to see him get more and more playing time as the season progresses.

Smith has not yet played Eliason and Mbakwe together with Rodney at the 3. Coleman would not be a starter in this set up but would be a substitute for Rodney and Austin and play 20 minutes a game.

jsimple3, great memories in deed. Let's not forget Ray Christenson's voice of the Gophers. Got to love it. My son is a FR at Michigan State, and he has heard me many of time share the stories of a faithful Gopher fan. He has become a fan himself; even from the opposing school. I always look forward to this time of the year, and this year brings more enthusiasm because of our Gopher's success. Good luck Gopher's. Keep it up.

I think if we can beat Michigan State in the opener this team will develop the confidence to win 12-14 conference games. If they continue to develop the sweet sixteen is possible(I doubt any further though). The talent is there for a good run. Keep the ball in the Hollins' hands to break the press. Coleman and Mav a little shaky.
