3M's system has been in place for about a year in Saint Paul. The last time I checked it was still lacking email notification when a book becomes available after placing a request. Does 3M really expect the users to log on every day to see if it's available?

There is nothing in this article that shows me that I am not served just as well, if not better, by Overdrive and Kindle or a Nook . The number of books available is only a small fraction of those available on other platforms.

A Google Play review states that you need to maintain an active Internet connection to read your Cloud Library books. In NY that means, no subway reading.

Overdrive allows 15 books at a time, but 5 is plenty. Fewer books at a time means shorter waits.

So how do you use/access these books on your Kindle then? Is that no longer an option? The old system for Dakota County used to work so smoothly for that.

Dakota County still has the Overdrive service available. There is a workaround for Kindles with wi-fi, just google it. Amazon & 3M haven't come to an agreement yet - just as it took amazon some time to come to an agreement with Overdrive...

Now they need to add books. The last time I was browsing, they lacked numbers. Overdrive has a great deal more.

The entire article is a bunch of hyper words with some abstract numbers. How about some real info such as how does the system work? How much will it cost? What happens after 21 days? Does the book get deleted from your device or cloud? or do you get a late fee?

Cool... but the benefit of this is really limited until they add Kindle support.

I love the number of books available on the 3M Cloud, but found out that unlike OverDrive books you have to be in a wifi setting to read them. You can't read them riding in a car like you can OverDrive books. I took my Kindle with me to an appointment to read while I was waiting - no wifi - no reading. It was very disappointing.
