The women Gophers are rolling again! Downhill as usual. Nothing changes, year after year.

The gophers played like potted plants. No one moved their feet and Virgina just ran circles around them.

That game was tough to watch. As the article points out, the killer was that the Gophers were just never able to establish anything inside. One of the big improvements in this year's team over last year's team has been the emergence of Michella Riche, but she missed some chip shots early and seemed out of rhythm the whole game. She SHOUlD have drawn a double team, she SHOULD have opened up things on the perimeter (shots the Gophers were hitting) by being dominant on the inside, and she SHOULD have gotten to the line frequently, but she just hasn't looked the same in three of the last four games. When she and Banham are on it opens up opportunities for other players and the Gophers are tough to beat. I hope she is not sliding into some kind of long-term funk. Virginia IS a good team and I suspect that they will be ranked by the end of the year, but the Gophers could have beaten them and probably should have beaten them at home. On a larger scale, the whole Big Ten/ACC challenge was embarrassing on the women's side. The only ranked Big Ten team that won was #14 Purdue over Georgia Tech (at home) and #21 Nebraska and Minnesota were routed on their home floors by unranked teams. 5-7 overall is not good, but when you include wins by Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern over dogs like Clemson and BC, the Big Ten won only two games of significance (Michigan State over NC State was the other). Add to that that #6 Penn State lost to unranked Miami and it is pretty obvious that the the ACC is just plain better this year.

Actually, #10 Maryland routed #19 Nebraska so they weren't routed by an unranked team, but they were routed just the same. Maryland is probably salivating right now at the prospect of entering the league in 2014...

Didn't see the whole game but, what I did see was Virginia bigs getting away with murder under the hoop.....

This game was one of the worst defensive stands I've seen from our players. Noone seemed the least bit interested in playing hard and once our inside game vanished, we turned into a one dimensional outside shooting team. Given how badly our inside players were doing, would it have hurt Coach B to give Jackie Johnson more on a look than one minute of garbage time at the end of the game?? Riche has always been foul prone and I think that will dog her throughout the season so it would be wise for Pam to develop other options in the post.

The Pam Borton Train Wreck. Choo, choo... The Barn looked like a morgue. What happened to all of the fans that used to come in droves? The program needs a change.

InformedOneNov. 30, 1212:16 PM

I think one major reason that enthusiastically rooting for improvement in the program this year is because it decreases the number of identical posts by nowmorebrew. I think I've only seen 3 "Borton train wreck...choo choo" posts this year. Maybe if they go 35-1 next year I'll only have to read one...

InformedOne - with wins coming over teams that are a combined 17-19 thus far in the season you can expect a lot more choo, choo's coming. Change is long overdue thanks to Borton's golden parachute that she was handed by the previous folks in Morrill Hall.

Borton is the best coach in the Nation, for taking good talent and screwing it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
