The council member says she won't if Rybak seeks new term.
Oh God..Please No! No more Euphorians running Minneapolis....Please send us a real person! A Human of sorts.....
The Minneapolis budget, which she managed by virtue of chairing the council's budget committee, is in shambles. The property tax system in Minneapolis that oddly has residents seeing steep declines in evaluations while double digit increases in property taxes, is in shambles. And Betsy, like many of her colleagues chooses not to trim services AND not to approve residential projects that might encourage high income property tax payers back into the city. And now she wants to run for Mayor? PUhleeze.
Jaytee...do you not understand how property taxes are figured? You take the whole budget and divide it by all the properties. Each property paying a percentage based on their value relative to the whole. Just because your property value fell does not mean that it gets cheaper to clean the streets or plow. Etc. Minneapolis has kept it's budget almost entirely flat since 1999 when adjusted for inflation. The real issue is that the state has been stealing a higher percentage of the sales tax revenue.
Jaytee..Minneapolis has 4000 fewer employees than in 1999. I hardly think you can accuse them of not trimming.
