Jared Allen has been very ineffective this year. He's weak, slow and has no big muscles in his arms. If he's going to return to his former self, which I doubt, he has to hit the gym every day and bulk up. I think his days are numbered and he should be released at the end of this season.

Bingo, xyzzy72. Allen was once a great player that could make an impact. He is no longer effective. Watch how teams run right at him. He does not have the strength to play the run, and is too slow to speed rush, and doesn't have the power to bull rush. No longer worth the salary he is making, and no more effective than Robison.

Not sure what games you guys are watching. It looks to me like our D tackles are lacking, and not Robison and certainly not Allen. With the chipping and the doubles, the D tackles need to be more effective. It's really more to do with the scheme than it is the talent. But the Vikings really DO need a good stellar tackle.. on either side. A change of our D coaching staff and a switch to 3-4, and we'll be just fine. We have enough speed at DE to make 3-4 work. But somehow, our ancient cover two D with the obsolete front line scheme seems to take a new flavor but the same result year after year. Wipe this coaching staff slate clean.. please!

Allen's been known around the league as a dirty player for at least a couple years now. Ain't gonna change any time soon. He's gone after next season anyway, because he'll perform during his contract year and want big money.

Fans will be fans. If the Vikes win, then its we were lucky to win, because this guy didn't play well, or that play was a dumb call, etc... If we loose, then its blame everybody that you don't like. Though the Vikes D-Line didn't get much pressure, anyone who actually watched the game, could see the Bears were in max protection the entire game. The bears kept a TE to help their LT block Allen, and on 3rd downs, brought T Carimi in on the left side as an xtra blocker against Allen. With so many xtra pass protectors staying in against the Vikes pass rush, more of the blame should probley be put on the LBs, and D-Backs. Lets face it 7 guys should be able to cover 3 or 4 recievers going out on pass patterns. That didn't happen. The Def. as a whole stunk up the joint, and could not stop the Bears on 3rd downs. If you really want to put the blame on someone, it seems our D- Coord was totally out coached by the Bears counterparts. Peppers name was not called the whole game, and Kalil did a great job against him, most of the time 1 on 1. Does this mean Peppers is no longer a good player? Teams are using blocking schemes to counter the Vikes strengths, and expose their weaknesses. Its up to the Coaches to change their D-schemes to counter this, and other than the Lions game, have had little success. Both Offensive, and Defensive Coord, have been running the same play calls over, and over, again. Teams have figured them out, and the coaches don't seem able to adjust. This goes back to the haed coach. The Vikes have not been prepared properly, and in my opinion have been out coached, more so than out played. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allen is chipped or double teamed most of the time.

Allen's washed up....Allen's a dirty player...GET A CLUE!!!! If you command a double team on 90% of the downs you play, I would say there's a good chance you are not washed up. As far as Allen being a "dirty player"...that's just plain BS!! To even say it's known around the league...I'm guessing you are just talking about your fantasy league because I seriously doubt you are an NFL player, coach, GM, or Owner. By all means have an opinion as a fan, but at some point stupid is just stupid.

I didn't know Jared Allen was the only end in the game to be double teamed. I better pay more attention as I don't see him getting double teamed that often. And for someone who cheap shotted the Bears guy and cowardly took out Schaub a couple years back, he sure whines a lot about what happens to him. Just a tad hypocritical? That all being said, I like Allen and he's a hustle player. His off field actions are admirable but being a rare objective fan, I do pay attention to when favorite players lose effectiveness and I avoid the helicopter parenting style of sticking blindly sticking up for them no matter the situation. He's a definite leader of this team and with that, and the big contract, more is consistantly needed from him. 3 sacks in blowout games don't do much for me.

That was a clean hit by someone who is more used to tackling than blocking, how could you EVER expect a hit to the shoulder pad to cause an ACL tear? The whole idea is absurd. The only reason I can see for the fine is that the NFL group which determines these thing must have just watched "Animal House": "We need the dues!"
