This action today by the United Nations General Assembly sets the stage for future negotiations between Israel and Palestine over official recognition of the State of Palestine by Israel and the official recognition of the State of Israel by Palestine. In spite of all the gloom and doom prognostications by the U.S. and Israel, this elevates the state of Palestine to a level that will force Israel to negotiate in good faith for once, something they haven't done in a very long time. For over 40 years Israel has ignored previous U.N. Security Council Resolutions regarding the occupied territories and settlement building, and now that stance is coming home to roost for Israel. All the while it was accusing the Palestinian people of not wanting peace, Israel was itself doing everything possible to sabotage peace. Now, that the Palestinian people grew tired of waiting and went directly to the U.N., the U.S. and Israel cry fowl. Ya know what, let them eat cake.
