The right wingers will claim these numbers are made up and continue to live in their alternate reality where the economy is shrinking, the deficit is increasing, and the unemployment is exploding. Of course that alternate reality does exist................in Great Britain. The Brits followed the advice of the Republicans "we don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem" and drastically cut spending. Now the UK is in a double-dip recession and everyday their economic picture looks bleaker while we are the fastest growing advanced economy.

WASHINGTON - The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits fell 23,000 to a seasonally adjusted 393,000 last week. It was the second straight drop after Superstorm Sandy had driven applications much higher earlier this month. A Labor Department analyst said Thursday that the storm had little effect on last week's data. ------ Yeah but wouldn't the short work week last week also impact the numbers (i.e. Government offices closed)?

1.5 million Americans are filing initial claims for unemployment insurance every month. Medical product manufacturers are slashing thousands of good-paying jobs because of new Obamacare taxes. Large industrial companies like Kimberly-Clark, Dow Chemical, DuPont, are cutting thousands of jobs in America as they announced in October. Groupon and Living Social each announced they were cutting hundreds of jobs. Hostess just cut 18,500 jobs. Banks are cutting jobs in New York and Connecticut. FedEx is cutting thousands of jobs. Is it a sign of a strong economy when the largest companies are engaging in mass layoffs??? Don't believe the propaganda or bogus government data. Believe the real job cuts.

Election's over people - give it a break. Presidents have a little power over the economy but it really isn't that much and most of it is the power to mess things up. (Want economic power? Call Ben Bernanke.) Can we all just breathe deeply and be thankful that the slow moving, not too nimble cruise ship of the US economy finally seems headed in the right direction?

So the number looks good but when you factor in inflation that real people see everyday it is not that impressive.

My neighbor just got laid off after working 16 years at Johnson and Johnson thanks to Obama care. There is going to be a whole lot more pain to go around. Thankfully Obama will be able to sit in his mess and take 100% blame for it....

Just a heads up last weeks numbers were revised up, so 410,000, 416,000 the last 2 weeks and 393,000 on a 3 day week, says to me we have issues.
