Good grief, its articles like this that scare me, so extending unemployment creates jobs? yes sir the more i spend shopping the more money i have.
Lets all go on unemployment - look at all the jobs that would create. Unbelievable. The CBO must be made up of liberals.
CBO=Lost ALL credibility (as if they ever had any?) - this is 100% complete non sense. Do the math people! Giving someone a dollar to spend does NOT create $1.10 in economic growth!!! Its the same $1!!!!
Dear Democrats, if you will give me never-ending unemployment, someone else can have my job. Is this how the job creation formula works??
"The CBO report found that for every dollar of jobless benefits that the unemployed spend, there is a $1.10 boost to the economy."--------------------------No wonder the president is doing everything in his power to keep folks on unemployment. Another couple million jobs lost and the economy will be booming. Who'd a thunk it? Never would have believed it myself if I hadn't read it here.
The more unemployed we have, the more employed we have...or something like that.
Actually, the CBO low-balled the positive economic impact of extending unemployment benefits. Most studies show $1.00 generates $1.50+ of economic value, ranking second to food stamps. Even to those using Romney math... it's a tough policy to oppose.
dogman said: "$1.00 generates $1.50+ of economic value."----------------------------------So the debt solution has been staring us in the face all along. A 32 trillion dollar stimulus package will generate 48 trillion in economic value. Enough to offset the 32 with 16 left over to pay off the debt. Might as well make it a 100 trillion dollar package and we'll have 52 trillion dollars to distribute to the masses. We're all gonna be rich!

A perfect example of teapublican logic. Fortunately for all... democrats are in charge to help clean up Bush's mess. Let's compare the economic value in providing $1.00 in tax cuts to the upper 2% with the economic value in providing $1.00 in extended unemployment benefits. A typical CEO type would more than likely take that $1.00 and deposit in a tax-avoidance vehicle in a foreign land. The economic value in that $1.00 is $0.00. Take that same $1.00 and put it into the hands of someone who hasn't collected a paycheck in two years, and every penny will immediately be rolled back into the economy.. most likely their local economy. Admittedly, $1.00 wouldn't make much of an impact. But multiply that $1.00 by several hundred million, or tens of billions.. and the impact is massive. If a local merchant collects enough of those unemployment dollars, they might increase the hours of their employees, or even add employees. With that added income, those employees will roll that income back into the economy, as well as pay more to the government in taxes... helping to capture the initial investment. Thus, that $1.00 in extended unemployment benefits keeps snowballing through the economy.. spurring growth in merchant sales, labor growth, wage growth, investment by businesses, etc.
