 QB Matt O'Connell from tiny Clear Lake, Wis., attracted little interest from larger colleges, but St. Thomas coach Glenn Caruso knew he'd be a standout.

We, who all live in Clear Lake have watched Matt grow to be one outstanding individual and great football player. We are very proud of our home town boy ( sorry Matt ) - home town young man.

While I love Division One Football I think whose who play for places like St Thomas are the lucky ones. They generally get to play and it is outside on a nice Fall day. Kids tend to be good students. What could be better.

Matt wasn't born when I did a little coaching in Clear Lake; not even close to being born in fact. Glad to see Clear Lake alum do so well at the college level.
