Veteran officer Harteau is a good fit to lead department forward.
We're lucky to have her! She's the best of the best!! I met our new Chief 10 years ago when I was the chair of my Mpls neighborhood association and needed help organizing a Safety Committee. I called the First Precinct, asked for help and am grateful for having been directed to our new Chief. She was right there then and continues to be there for us now. She's kind, smart, has a big heart, gives 110%, and really cares about us and her job. Plus, she's only the second woman to head a major US metropolitan police force. Life is good here in Mpls!!
What are the other 15/16th of her heritage? What was Tim Dolan's heritage? Why must the Strib label people?
I sent the chief a copy of my new book and invited her (and others) to take a look at my blog on improving police at: http://improvingpolice.wordpress.com/ where other current police improvement issues are discussed. For me, great policing is accomplished by those who are well-trained and led, restrained in their use of force, honest, and courteous to every person.
