Dakota County protests sharing 'rapid' bus label

Metro Transit's plan to use the term to refer to some city bus routes sparks concerns about confusion in the county.

Dakota County commissioners need to get over themselves. The type of service that Metro Transit is proposing is called rapid all over the country: Rapid Ride in Seattle and Metro Rapid in Los Angeles, just to name a few. The Cedar Avenue busway is called the Metro Red Line. No one is going to refer to it as 'rapid bus' once the line is up and running and marketed as the Red Line. Most of the general public probably isn't even aware of it yet, so I find the one commissioner's suggestion that it will take 'years' for the Red Line brand to take hold just bizaare.
