"Therapeutic" and "medically necessary" are not the same thing. MN statute says that a woman without means can have an abortion if it is medically necessary, and the Supreme Court ruled that subdivision unconstitutional because it disregards "therapeutic abortions". Why? Because abortion is legal. Constitutionally protected. Just because this group doesn't like it doesn't make it illegal.
Almost 4,000 abortions a year? In Minnesota alone. What a morbid, sickening world we live in.
gearrunr .... that number is only the total number of abortions paid for by Minnesota taxpayers although this reported number is already disturbingly high.
So now the taxpayers have to pay for another lawsuit because another radical group decides to sue the state on the guise of protecting the taxpayers. If they win I bet not a single taxpayer sees a penny.
Although this is alarming it is still better than sticking the taxpayers for prental services, delivery, medical care, food stamps and legal services for 37,000 unwanted babies through adutlhood. indigent 1) n. a person so poor and needy that he/she cannot provide the necessities of life (food, clothing, decent shelter) for himself/herself.
What would be the appropriate remedy for the courts to impose? Who would reimburse the state, and who is paying the state's costs to defend against this suit? If the court finds that the state acted in error is there anything more to do than cease and desist?
I find it ironic that a group called "Alliance Defending Freedom" is so hell-bent on fighting against any woman chosing to exercise her freedom to have an elective abortion, taxpayer paid or not. ********** I find it disgusting that tax money is going for abortions.

I find it ironic that a group called "Alliance Defending Freedom" is so hell-bent on fighting against any woman chosing to exercise her freedom to have an elective abortion, taxpayer paid or not. Let's not pretend that this isn't an effort on the groups part to limit women seeking legal abortion from being able to obtain them at all.
