Yes, pledge not to raise taxes before you are re-elected, then change your pledge to raise taxes once you are elected... Way to go!!

Thankfully some hope exists for common sense returning to these elected officials to repudiate Norquist and his pledge. Constituants of all these republicans should insist that the pledge they take is to them, as taxpayers and listening to what they want, not what Mr. Norquist wants.

I cannot believe a group of adults would sign a pledge for a minority of Americans whose avatar is the dishonorable Grover. That they would sign away their ability to think independently and not allow for future economic and social changes tells me what weak willed people they are. I guess that is why our politics are like they are today. They have to work for their constituents, I get that. But they also have to work for the USA as a whole. What foolishness...

The country has a spending problem problem, not a revenue problem. In lieu of a flat tax I propose we go back to the Clinton budget along with tax rates, but that would mean Obama and Reid would have to pass their first budget in approximately four years.

What always seems forgotten in the fiscal cliff discussion are the words of Speaker Boehner when the cliff was invented as a part of the debt ceiling deal: "I got 98% of what I wanted" well, here it is, still happy about it?

As well they should. Today's GOP is so far right, Ronald Reagan would be considered a liberal. And speaking of taxes, does anyone - ANYONE - remember voting for Grover Norquist?

Obama's owns this economy. In his words "elections have consequenses". Let it burn. Some times people need to learn the hard way.

Eliminating the so-called Bush tax cuts raises $70 billion a year. Fine. But our deficit is in excess of $1 trillion. There's no getting to that number without cutting spending. Why doesn't the media focus on that?

If they pledged to not have the government take one more penny in taxes but want to close "loopholes" while lowering the tax rate which shell are the ultra rich hiding under?

Cravaack doesn't count. He's been marginalized. Gone, kaput. The other two will be dealt with next election. I'll bet they will be ousted if they don't change their tune regarding taxes other than closing loop holes.
