How about educating your children on the problems with tobacco, alcohol, drugs, teenage pregnancy, etc. instead of playing ostrich and sticking your head in the sand and hoping that will work. You can not hide from the real world. Are you going to screen all colleges to make sure the professor doesn't smoke? --- which many do?
