a loss of a moderate figure in an otherwise increasingly radicalized Israeli gov.. perhaps he sees something on the horizon and desires not to be involved in it? Like an attack on Iran. i don't think we've see the last of Ehud Barak. if he does mount a challenge to Netanyahu, Israel would greatly benefit from his more moderate approach to things.
