It's hard to feel sorry for anyone shot while burglarizing a home. They were breaking the law. That man didn't ask to be put in that situation. If those kids hadn't been up to no good they'd be alive right now.

This poor old timer will spend some time in prison not because he did anything wrong. He had ever right in the state of Minnesota to shoot those two. Unfortunately they weren't your normal, "boy bad/bad girl" looking teens so everyone will feel sorry for them and the old timer will have to pay for that sympathy. That is really sad and disturbing. Sorry folks but if you don't want your pretty little teens shot then teach them not to break into homes.

I imagine word got around that this man's house was easy to break into. This day he just happened to be a psychopath. Bad timing for all of them.

Two wrongs don't make a right. MN law is very clear that the right to use deadly force ends when the threat is ended. Saying "I want them dead" & making "a good clean finishing shot" is NOT self defense. And yes, I have a CC permit. Note that the initial shooting was not contested - the continuing shooting is. Sickening.

And these are type of people who possess guns "for self defense." Scary.

It's scary to think there is a sizable chunk of our population that think this man was justified.I have been home invaded twice; and neither time did I think anyone had to die .

While this was a tragic turn of events, the blame lies with all parties involved, not just the homeowner. I am not condoning how far the homeowner acted out but these kids made a choice, a stupid CHOICE to put their lives in danger when they decided to unlawfully break into someones home. Let this be a wake up call to others that sometimes the consequences can be dire. Had these kids not decided to break into this mans home, they would have never encountered these circumstances. ++ Thumb this down all you want, but you know my assessment is correct.

it wouldn't surprise me if the NRA came to his defense. He killed the young women with a hand gun he just happened to be wearing? Sounds to me he was just waiting for someone to break in
