Who comes up with this stuff??
If we are not going to raise taxes what programs are going to be cut to get a balanced budget?
I agree that income taxes MUST be raised on middle and lower-income earners like YOU AND ME. It's the only way we will ever PAY ATTENTION to OUT OF CONTROL federal spending.
Change the tax codes and massive cuts, otherwise lets go off the clff. Dems want tax increase just not on them. Time to pay up.
Stand FIRM President Obama. You won that 'political capital', time to spend it... Let's go over the cliff, January 2013, the GOP will be ready to deal, because if the don't, THEY'RE GOING HOME IN 2014. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE CONTINUED OBSTRUCTIONISM!!!
The automatic cuts are fairer than the GOP will ever propose. I'd say cut defense about twice as much as the automatic cuts, and do away with the ATF. I mean really, why do the feds have an agency specifically to pick on my hobbies? I suspect many would object to my proposal however, and I am certain the GOP would never propose cuts I would consider to be based on an accurate assessment of reality. So, across the board cuts seem fairer. Oh yes, this "cliff", it's only a "cliff" if you are on top, otherwise it's a wall, an obstacle.
I think it's time we end the partisan politics - including by the general public. Use common sense and get the job done. Time to fire all our elected officials and start over. Not willing to do your job, go home.
GO back to Bushes 2007 Budget $2.7 trillion in spending. 2007 was a good year only $450B deficit
I live on a budget, why can't the Gov't!? Stop spending more than you bring in and you won't have to raise taxes. Pure and simple.
The biggest welfare recepients by far are the corporations, but nobody ever talks about cutting those programs. Over $500 billion in grants are doled out to corporations every year. Where is the outrage? Most corporations have fulltime grant writers who do nothing but seek money from the Gov't, and then turn around and outsource jobs to China.
