Very good recap....still hopeful for a decent amount of the season but the owners have to realize that their days of locking out and dictating are over.

The problem is Fehr, not the owners. This is his MO and he was spoiling for a fight. After all this time, he finally has gotten around to proposing what the NHL asked for a long time ago; a 50/50 split. Way too late to salvage a meaningful season. I'm a season ticket holder and extremely unhappy.

When AP guy Podell parrots Fehr's mantra that there has been labor peace with MLB with no salry cap, he should remind everyone that big market teams have a distinct advantage under that system. Pretty important for say, Minnesota, St. Louis, etc. Maybe MLB is a good solution for a guy who lives in NYC, like Podell. Better Idea, do what the NFL does. The NFL has managed to create some great parity where everyone makes money, everyone has a chance at a championship and has become the number one sport in America. That's the model we should use: Salary cap plus revenue sharing.
