There is a certain irony in this story. American Expres is the sponsor, but many small brick and mortar stores have stopped honoring AE. Cards. They have stopped honoring them for the same reason business travelers like them: generous benefits for the person using the cards. Typical fees are 2% +.25 cents per transaction. Then they tack on a lot of other fees for getting reports. They even have a charge if you don't have a sale! As a retailer you will take a card for small charge, and the fees eliminate the profit. So lotsof us have dropped American Express cards and it hasn't hurt sales because the vast majority have another card or two.

I want to add that Ooh La La who is a supporter of small business is a bad business! They ordered from us more than a year ago and we have been trying to get payment, they have sent 2 checks that bounced and ignore ALL contacts, we are now going to go with legal proceedings. They also ignore lawyers and BBB officials! This is a warning to others who are thinking of selling to this store, beware!!
