Vikings Insider: Last six games to show us a lot about Ponder

His coach and GM are solidly behind the quarterback. But he knows this stretch of games will be very telling for his future.

Should not take three years, to know if a QB is a NFL caliber player.

At least he had fun slinging it without worries as we finish 7-9. No QB is guaranteed 3 years in this league. Wish him luck, but why make happy-go-lucky quotes with your job on the line?

it is clear now that ponder is not an elite qb. does this mean we'll be doing this qb thing every 3 years considering how poorly we've done with selection and development? bring on MBT and see what other options we can find in the off season.

What is aggravating, is us Viking fans, have to wait three years, to see if we have a decent QB. Meanwhile, the Redskin fsns, have a proven QB with RG3, and the Colts, have the same with Luck. Either one of those two QB's could bring a SB to there teams, meanwhile, us Vike fans, are in Limbo, for another three years, and if Ponder does not make it, we have to start all over, with another prospect. Mike Shannahan, might have the right idea, do whatever it takes, to get a quality QB, through the draft, he drafted Cutler, when at Denver, and now has RG3.

I disagree with Spielman. These last six games area are a great testing ground for Ponder. If Ponder can't do his part in keping us at least competetive in these important divisional games on the road, the Vikings need to go another direction. If we can't beat the Bears or the Packers, the Vikings will never live up to their supporters' expectations. Today's game is not all on Ponder. We need to win the Special Teams battle for the first time in a long time. Our defense needs to hurry and harrass Jay Cutler and force the Bears to make mistakes. The Vikings need to win the turnover battle. Ponder's task, as I see it, is to be an effective game manager. We need to rely on the hard running of AD. But Ponder's going to have to find a way to move the chains through the air. Rudolph, Wright and Simpson have to be contributors today. I'm cheering for a Vikings victory today. Go Vikes! You can do it! Skol Vikings!

This is the end for Ponder. Time to trade for a real quarterback. He will never play again after this season.

Better to use these games to get Joe Webb some experience.

I've already seen enough as of today. 25-3 at the half of this Bear's game He threw that interception way over the intended receiver's head. Doesn't have it. Even the experts said it was a bad pick. Just count your losses and start over. Bears aren't this good.

Make it one game and play Webb. This is becoming ridiculous.
