This kind of over-specific, legalistic, ridiculous rules make football less of a sport and more of a contest for attorneys. Really, coaches, players and fans need law degrees to keep the NFL game straight. How about cutting out the 70% of NFL rules that are written in response to one incident in one game, and just giving the officials the authority to call the game according to their best judgment? In-person attendance at these games just drags and drags while we all wait for the lawyers to huddle and argue and watch TV for 5 minutes, and then tell us what just happened.

Say what you want about NASCAR but when a flaw of this magnitude is revealed in this organization’s rulebook, the President immediately makes the necessary rule change.

I particularly like the one NASCAR rule the President made about not driving while drinking.

Did you get the part where the rule changes are recommended to the owners? Bottom line the 31 owners make the rules, collect the cash and if you don't like it, too bad for you. I wonder who explains these things to Ziggy?
