Gophers left feeling blue after 89-71 loss to Duke

The Blue Devils scored with ease inside and out, never giving the Gophers an opportunity to make it a game after going ahead early.

Well, that did'nt work out so well. Out classed in rebounds, defense, offense, turnovers, etc. I guess, talent does make a difference.

As I easily predicted prior to the game (I thought that they would lose by 15-20 points, that is get blown out and not be competitive at all), the Gophers got blown out by Duke and we can now be assured of yet another below.500 conference record and being on the NIT bubble at season end. Now tell me again, what was all of the B.S. about this being the Tubbster's best team ever? That was a joke, right?

"The Gophers hung with No. 5 Duke all Thanksgiving afternoon" ... "to allow the Gophers to stage a comeback" So which was it hung with them, or needed a comeback? Rhetorical. We were never in the game after halftime. Tell it like it is.

Tubby has Eliot on Plumlee and never left Mo in long enough to make a difference. Ingram and Oto, who hasn't made one shot so far this year should never see the court. Obviously Duke is one of the best in the country but Tubby is a poor coach.

Why doesn't Tubby play Trevor and Mo more? They obviously need them to rebound and play defense. Playing Trevor only 18 minutes is a shame as he should be starting.

Newly crowned "Turkey Tubby" is outclassed once again. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I really hate to say this but Tubby played a key role in not giving the team any chance to win. I know Trevor and Mo are recovering but Elliott looked totally outmatched after the first 2 minutes and the announcers noted that repeatedly. Otto and Ingram were and have typically been non-Big Ten players, at any capacity... they should not take up the space that other more capable recruits could and should fill. The late use of Trevor and lack of more use of Mo along with the many TOs and lack of D on the 3s did them in. Also, Duke made some unbelievable shots with people all over them and others when off balance ... it was crazy good. Amazing to finally see a great caliber and extremely well-coached team teach this team and this (old) coach a lesson. I do hope this is a learning opp and they grow faster now. The next two day in the Bahamas are going to be no easier and they may end up 0-3 or 1-2 but they should be better for it the rest of the season.... but coach, give this team a chance and play the (few, key) players that will help them win!

Tubby you keep Pat R. being right all the time. Be more competitive and show him otherwise.

the talent levels weren't the same...but this will be a winning year...Sid said they'd lose by 20 wow he was just about there. I saw it was 40-33 Duke near the half so they must have played them tough in the first half...

They did not "hang in there." They were blown out. The outcome of the game was never in question. Anytime the Gophers (football or basketball) play a telented team they get blown out. It look like another sub 500 season in the Big 10 finishing in the bottom half. Probably a near 500 finish overall and a trip to the NIT.
