I drove from Mpls to Chicago over Tuesday night and experienced about 35 miles of on and off dense fog. Frequently I was passed by cars and heavy trucks travelling much faster than the 50-75 foot visibility warranted.

If you've never been on I-10 in Texas, it's basically all flat land, and outside of going through El Paso, San Antonio, or Houston, it is dangerous during inclement weather. Fog, sand, rain, you name it, hits it in a hurry. Add to that one of the busiest travel days of the year, and I can see this happening. If your only experience with interstates are in the upper Midwest, I respectfully say you have no clue. When I say it hits in a hurry, even NOAA can't predict it in time. I just hope and pray the death toll is low.

Steavis, It's the drivers that make it dangerous, not the road or the weather. If the weather hits in a hurry then you need to adapt to it in a hurry.

i notice cabled guard rails in the pics. i wonder if they prevent drivers from driving into the ditch, to avoid pileups ahead? also, it seems there are many more trucks on the freeways these days. i can't help but think they exacerbate massive/deadly multi-vehicle accidents.

I'm always one who slows down for conditions and everyone gets mad at me for blocking traffic!

I hope the NATION of Texas has enough resources to deal with this. HATE to have them call upon their neighbors, The United States of America, for help.
