The leader of football power Eden Prairie, a coach and player at St. John's, was greatly influenced by the legend.

Just a wils guess here but Uncle Sidney seems to be falling all over himself once again for his "close personal friend", Bud Grant, by lobbying on behalf of his son to be the new coach at St. John's. Probably, a good reason in itself for SJ not to hire Mike Grant.

I couldn't think of anybody more qualified that Mike Grant to coach at St. Johns. It's a no brainer.

Even Tim Brewster would have had a winning record at EP with 3,200+ enrollment. I'm not persuaded Grant would be the best choice given that he has never faced real competition in his career.

roymercer... grant had a pretty good run at Forest Lake, before he made the switch to EP, and EP was not exactly a power before he got there.

"Even Tim Brewster would have had a winning record at EP with 3,200+ enrollment" Maybe Brewster should take over at EP after Grant is hired at St. Johns. I guessing the results wouldn't be the same.

Some things Grant didn't learn from Gagliardi was humility and how to be a good loser and respect officials. Try being on the sideline by him sometime!

I played for Grant when he was an assistant at Minnetonka (1980). I realize that was many years ago but he was a good coach then who did a great job of relating to players. I haven't seen him for many years but have rooted for his teams every year because of the positive impact he had on me. I hope he is offered and accepts the St. John's position and I wish him the best of luck.
