Gail, Thanks for this. I especially like the last tip to "Love your black sheep." When talking about the importance of conversation, love is so rarely mentioned yet so deeply needed, especially with family.
We at The Public Conversations Project have watched the birth and growth of the Respectful Conversations Project with excitement and deep respect for what it has accomplished. The numbers cited don't even tell the whole tale. In our work at PCP (which, by the way, has continued since the 80s) we've found that people carry their dialogue experience into many other relationships at work, home, faith community, etc. So the efforts of Respectful Conversations will have impacts far beyond the people who participates in their dialogue sessions on the amendment. Kudos!
