More than 12 million Americans are still unemployed.
One can almost double that when you consider under employed plus individuals who have dropped out of the labor force by giving up searching for a job. Can't mention these facts though, because it goes against the rosy picture painted by Obama, the Democrats and their allies in the media!
stared: "One can almost double that when you consider under employed plus individuals who have dropped out of the labor force by giving up searching for a job." One can almost double that if one has no regard for accuracy.
The number is more like 21 million. When has the government (note I did not pick a party) ever been honest with us?
Nothing is cured/solved overnight but WHY is the GOP so afraid of taxing the rich a little bit more. The extra tax that they would pay would not keep them from doing anything that they do now. They will not have to shop at Thrift Shops, they will still be able to buy Yachts, live very lavishly, etc. Once the country gets on it feet and people are employed MAYBE then they can enjoy lower taxes. They did not fight in the Army, Navy, etc. so let them do something NOW for their country.
Unemployment rate for IT professionals in Minnesota is 2%. Retool your skillset.
barbjens, It isnt that the GOP is afraid of taxing the wealthiest more, its the DEMS idea that adding 40 billion in revenue is somehow going to fix 1.5 trillion a year is deficits. You remind me of my mom, drives 20 miles to save 4 cents on peaches. I think the GOP would be fine with the taxes if massive cuts to entitlement went along with it.
"Nothing is cured/solved overnight but WHY is the GOP so afraid of taxing the rich a little bit more."----This would do nothing to reduce unemployment.
Odd my friends that own businesses in NW North Dakota cannot find enough people that "want" to work. To many people that are unemployed because they choose not to take an unpleasant job. I have a hard time sympathizing with someone that chooses to be unemployed because they don't want to move, they don't like actually like to "work" or the job is beneath them. We've made it to easy not to work in this country. I'm sure raising my taxes will promote more ownership in ones own life!!!
