"Swanson said that most patients who came forward with complaints were not seeking a financial reward and that some purposely avoided the restitution process, which was run by former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice James Gilbert." Glad to see that. The point, Accretive, is not that you buy your way out of the situation, but that you stop putting vulnerable patients and their families into the situation.

What about the other side of the coin? Maybe you don't understand that many of these 'victims' already owed large sums to the hospital, and continue to show up to use its services. After all, any business (especially hospitals) that never gets paid for services goes broke. While some agents may have been overly agressive, I disbelieve the claim that someone tried to get money from a patient 'having a stroke'. That's ridiculous and an obvious exaggeration of the situation. And name some other businesses where you can walk in, get a service, and make NO arrangment for payment? And as for those getting thousands of dollars in the 'settlement', any of those people who had unpaid bills should have been required to use the money to pay off the debts they owed. What does the Attorney General want the company to do, forget about all the money they are owed? Guess so.

minn12, how do you know these people owed money? From previous stories I believe many of the Accretive victims were fully insured.

Minn12 if those clients had unpaid portions of co-payments, you should not be releasing that to the public. I am sure the patients' involved will be lawyering up after seeing their credit information being released without consent. Nice job!!

It's clear Attorney general Swanson did the heavy lifting here. Nice to see an elected official doing the job she asked to do and doing it well.

Accretive is still doing business under Accolade Health and both organizations share the same board. Accolade is performing case management, prenatal programs and acting quoting benefits. Swanson should have barred both organizations.

The entire Board should have been unseated in this debacle. They revealed themselves as incompetent overseers that turned a blind eye to nepotism and other shenanigans.

This bothered no one else?: The 90 "victims" share $2.5 million and $2.1 million goes to the state'sgeneral fund. Are you kidding? To me, THAT is a scam.
