No peace: Big Ten's latest expansion sends shock waves through college sports

Peace? Not in the college conferences. The final configuration (when there will be relative peace) is when there are five super-conferences with sixteen teams each. The Big 10/12, Big 12/10, ACC, SEC, and Pac-12 will be the winners. The MAC, C-USA, and Sun Belt will pick up most of the mid-majors, and the Big East will be gone as a football conference. The Mountain West will likely pick up the western mid-majors, and the WAC will be gone. As for ND? Even though they belong in the Big ten, they will probably eventually align fully with the ACC, in large part to snub the Big 10.
