The headline is misleading. I live in San Diego and we have had similar problems with a cross on public land here. In Santa Monica, the city decided to disallow ALL displays because some of them were being vandalized (the atheist displays were the ones that were vandalized). So if everyone can't do it, then no one can. It's really the only fair way to solve this. It's not right to vandalize anyone's property, no matter what your views.

Tolerance needs to be felt both ways. Put up your antichristmas displays fine but dont take joy and a tradition from others. Ridiculous!

Ridiculous? Hardly. 30 years of court decisions have said 'get your religious symbols off public grounds'. The news in this story is how Santa Monica kept it up for so long.
