And if you ae a union member and paid dues, you had no say in how this money was spent. In other words your hard work and financial contributions may have been spent directly counter to how you'd wish them to be spnt. Once citizens united is eliminated as it needs to be, the ability of unions to take dues and use them for political speech also needs to be eliminated. Those dues are the voices of the individuals who earned them, not the union to get between the voice and the message. There is clearly a problem here.
Since union membership in the provate sector is less than 7%, the roles unions play in todays politics are vastly overstated.
What kind of "muscle" did the Unions use when the told the Hostess workers to strike?
Say, how did that work out for them?
Union Bosses Spending your union dues $$Millions at a time to keep them selves in power.
I aree, the unions failed to help my Wonder Bread. Now you know I hate them so much. I still can't believe people believe that someone else speaks for them. I guess they are robots.
So sad that the unions get to pick the president and other political gems. Just think if these millions of dollars spent could have been spent on the robots that paid the dues or donated to the needy, not the greedy.
SEIU fights against American workers by organizing "undocumented workers" and lobbying to keep borders open and the flood of cheap foreign labor flowing into the US.
"that would have prohibited them from collecting money for political purposes through payroll deductions." -- I know if I was a union member, paying dues, I'd want the union working for me, with negotiations in the company, not spending my money on a candidate that I may not support. How is it right at all to FORCE people to join a union. If people want to create one, and work together to negotiate deals, that should be their choice, it should not be forced on them.
Since the 1% are, well, only 1%, their role in politics is vastly over stated.
Or how about "Big businesses showed incredible lack of business sense with out-of-control spending on ineffective advertising".
