we wont stop sending rockets into your cities until you remove the blockade, which will make it easier to bring in more rockets and weapons, and lets not forget, our platform is to erase Israel from the map...

I find it appalling that there are 100 dead and 840 wounded Palestinians. Three Israelis have died. Assassinating the 9 Hamas last week, then looping video coverage of the actual kills endlessly on Israeli TV would be considered by most as extremely provocative. When Palestine, in reaction to this surgical strike, escalated rockets into Israel, the slaughter began. In no way do I view this as Israel simply "defending itself". The standing party line excuses any amount of literal overkill as self-defense, but when you look at the actual numbers of deaths over time, the figures say it all: 2OO8 Israeli attacks resulted in between 1,166 and 1,417 Palestinian and 13 Israeli deaths (4 from friendly fire). 90 to 1 RATl0. 3,434 Palestinians KlLLED/10 years by Israelis. 78 Israelis KlLLED by Palestinians. 44 to 1 RATl0. My sense is that Israel is itching to aggress upon this nation. I also understand, given the apartheid conditions under which Palestine exists and the every-expanding settlements create & perpetuate the hatred toward Israel. Bottom line: Israel is no innocent victim in the ongoing conflict which the US finances. A two-state solution, lifting oppressive conditions, and ceasing settlement expansion are exactly what's called for to end this carnage and create a peaceful coexistence.

When you live next door to a tiger, it is best not to throw rocks at it. (Regardless of whether you think it should be there or not)

This is some fine and detailed reporting on this war. When will the US people going to see see some detailed reporting on our own wars?

If Israel truly desires peace, it must: vacate settlements on Palestinian lands, tear down its walls and checkpoints, rebuild and restore all Palestinian property that it has destroyed and/or confiscated, reroute water to the Palestinians to whom it rightfully belongs, end the blockade, stop the assassinations, and stop demonizing the Palestinians and start treating them as the equal-to-Israeli human beings that they are. You would think that, with the Jews' history of mistreatment, they would not inflict the same treatment on others. The Israeli treatment of the Palestinians is an outrage, and worse. When the Day of Atonement comes around again, make it meaningful.

Make no mistake about it. This war is about Israel's desire to keep the status quo of the Palestinians in Gaza where they are forced to live in primitive ways while Israel is enjoying a Western-Style living. Israel wants quiet for its citizens while making the daily lives of ordinary Palestinians unbearable by enforcing the most humiliating blockade in recent memory. Israel wants to bomb Gaza to submission in order to go with its ways to rob the land and kill its native inhabitants. Israel has no right to dictate to the Palestinians how and where to live while it welcomes new Jewish-immigrants with open arms giving them new tools to further oppress the natives. This is why Israel wages war against the Palestinians, not to have security, but to subjugate them and oppress them.

Some Israel's apologists would like to reduce the conflict between Israel and Palestinians to terrorism. But terrorism was created by the Jewish gangs of Haganah and Urgun that founded Israel; and we still don't hear any apologies for all the mascaras that they committed against the Palestinian natives. The fundamental reason of the conflict is exactly symmetrical to what happened in Apartheid South Africa. The whites used to give newly-arrived whites all the rights of citizenships while denying the black natives any kind of rights. That is exactly what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. Palestinians DON NOT have citizenships on their own land; while newly arrived Jewish-immigrants have automatic citizenships with all the protection. So much of a democratic Israel and a passive victim.

The only ones forcing the Palestinians to live in "primative ways" are themselves and the rest of the Arab world.

This recent conflict has its roots in the following Scenarios: 1. It is an election ploy by the right wing fundamentalist parties of Israel to win the approaching elections. Even the "Peace-loving" leftists are supporting the war. 2. How else Israel would get attention and sympathy from Obama after its Prime Minster shamelessly campaigned fro his opponent in Florida? Now Netanyahu is playing the victim while having the fifth largest army in the world. Yeah, we should believe him.
