Don't blame it all on the Retailer. If people would not shop, they would not open. It used to be they opened early on Friday but this was not enough for the shoppers -- they would press for more shopping time. The stores benefit but the people DO NOT have to go there. There is nothing that I need that much to go through that "cattle call".

Who gives a gobble,gobble if folks shop on Thanksgiving Day.. It's not a sacred day, or even notable. Lincoln made the day a holiday, and since then we slaughter dumb birds, stuff them full of bread, and give thanks for our Mercedes Benz and fat portfolios. I don't believe this denotes the meaning of giving "Thanks". It's a day of beer, food and football. Shopping sounds much more civilized to me.
