Why was terrorism link omitted? Which is worse: letting enemies of US know how much we know or letting them know how much we don't know? Tactically it may be better to cause them some uncertainty. In a fluid situation such as surrounded the recent 09/11 attack is transparency always obligatory and is misdirection ever warranted? IMHO withholding sensitive intelligence from key members in Congress is not wise. If the information became public knowledge then the source of the leak can be readily discovered. And there always would remain an informed few bipartisan statesersons who understand the need for a cover story. Amid the backdrop of a bitterly contested presidential election the distinction between the President's political enemies and enemies of the United States had almost become blurred. When "extremism in defense of liberty is no vice" meets "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," i.e. in the fog of politics, ...that tends to happen.

I've heard reports that the Obama administration didn't want Al-Qaeda to know we were on to them. Really?? Yet many of you will be drinking this kool-aid too. Clinton will be stepping down and the timely Petraeus scandal, someone is working awfully hard to cover up their tracks.. Regards.

Benghazi Truthers: they are just like the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory Truthers. They'll create their own alternate reality to satisfy their partisan viewpoint. Benghazi is the shiny object the GOP will use to stall anything postive from happening during Obama's second term. Just like what Newt Gingrinch and the GOP Congress did to Clinton.

"why a final draft omitted the CIA's early conclusion that terrorists were involved" .... this was answered when Petraeus provided his testimony. "the al-Qaida reference was deleted because the information came from classified sources and the links were tenuous."

"someone is working awfully hard to cover up their tracks." .... Well yeah. It appears the CIA was working a covert operation and they're trying to cover that up. And did they have a secret prison going on that violates Executive Order 13491? Petraeus's mistress hinted as much in an Oct. speech at the UN of Denver.

The same people who told GW Bush that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. People the only ones who know the information are the intelligence agencies and they are wrong more than right. Get on with running the country and stop worrying about screw ups. Both parties have them and the Military screws up all the time. We are human, and humans make mistakes ALL THE TIME!

Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chair of House Intelligence Committee, said after the closed-door meeting with General Petraeus that CIA had given the OK on the "talking points" used by UN Ambassador Susan Rice and the Obama Administration.

Weren't the conservatives saying that the Obama Administration was covering this up. And then when the information comes out that the intelligence community drafted the "talking points" used by the Obama Administration, they move the goal posts. Next, days before General Petraeus is supposed to testify and IMMEDIATELY after his scandal, conservatives scream that General Petraeus wouldn't testify. And then when he does testify, they, once again, move the goal posts. Now that information comes out that the CIA signed off on the "talking points", they are once again moving the goal posts.

I want to know which genius in this administration came up with the movie trailer excuse for the the attack. We all know know which idiots agreed with it, thought it should be used and ran with it, but which idiot thought it for the excuse in the first place?

The whole concocted fantasy that this was intended to keep al-quaida from knowing "that we know" is insulting to any reasonable person's intelligence. When 9/11 happened, we didn't follow this nonsensical story line. We published the information as we discovered it. The government certainly didn't make up a ridiculously insulting lie about what happened in order to make sure the president got re-elected.

sek2undrstnd: Your comparison of the Benghazi truthers to 9/11 truthers is completely baseless in facts. Where is the independent 911 investigation?
