Even 12 is pushing it for the Big 10-12-14-16-18. Stop with the money chasing already.

Enough of these alignment changes... Goodness, we added NE last year, and look what happened to the Gophers yesterday. Before the Big 10 added NE, they should have looked at schools/teams in which they could beat in sports.

Looking forward to two large land grant AAU research institutions joining B1G. Opens up NY/Wash/Balt markets. And sends a signal to others that the ship is sailing to 16 and you might want to think about getting on board. How about Virginia and Virginia Tech next?

I am totally NOT in favor of further expansion. The Big Ten brand and image will further be watered down with mediocre east coast schools.

The schools are top notch. The football programs aren't. The Big Ten research funding will be enhanced, and the B1G Network will get richer. This ship is sailing, football tradition is not the main concern. I wonder who number 15 and 16 will be?

University of Kansas would be a good add if they were interested in looking West.

This makes me sick. The Big 10 is hiding behind these two schools being a part of that academic association. The deal is the conference wants to get into the NYC and Baltimore/D.C. TV market. BTW, can anyone say that West Virginia and TCU have really improved the Big 12 or Colorado and Utah have improved the PAC 12. A&M in the SEC may be the exception but Missouri is very aveage too. The genie is out of the bottle and college athletics will greed its way into nothingness. Somebody please step in and stop this.

I do not really have a problem with the eventual expansion to 16 teams. However - Maryland and Rutgers? We are not exactly cherry-picking the top of the heap. here.

I just checked the member list for AAU, and found out something interesting: Every B1G university is a member, except for ONE. That one is ------ Nebraska, our most recent member. So much for AAU membership being so important. Even if that IS a requirement for any future members, we have 51 other options. Now a lot of the Ivy League is in there, and some others (MIT, Univ of Chicago, Johns Hopkins) don't play football. So that cuts down the possibilities some. However, some other options: Kansas, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Rice, Stanford, Texas A&M, Tulane, Arizona, Cal, UCLA, USC, Oregon, Colorado, NORTH CAROLINA, Florida, Texas, and Pitt. Even taking out the "non-contiguous state" schools, there are some decent ones. Don't get me wrong, Maryland and Rutgers are OK, but there are other decent options out there.
