This move is a much needed shot in the arm for us and for the Russian Federation. Hopefully it will encourage Putin to ease up on his old guard beliefs about political and social freedoms for the populace, and his stance on supporting dictatorships. Most russians want freedom and for Russia to continue to modernize as a country. The last vestiges of the old guard are dieing off, and those that remain are trying desperately to hold on to some semblance of power. If Putin doesn't wake up he will go the way of those before him. The only person in recent Russian history who saw this was Gorbachev. Last year I purchased an authentic Ushanka (Russian winter hat)from a merchant in the Ukraine. It would have been difficult to done the same with a Russian merchant.
