It's shameful that the Federal government is prosecuting two working stiffs (for manslaughter!) in connection with this disaster. So many things went wrong on Deepwater Horizion: violation of drilling procedures, unqualified drilling personnel, inoperative alarm systems, inoperative blowout preventer, too few spacers in the well casing, bad cement job. And the faults were not just with BP but with all of its subcontractors as well. The disaster on that rig needed a whole chain of failures, not just the actions of these two low level managers. They may have been unqualified for the positions that they were in, but making them scapegoats for this mess in criminal court is a judicial travesty.
