I'm glad people paid with access to these important resources are not correctly background checked (lots of aliases here) and monitored. We wonder why our system is in jeaporady. Made them do time and then work to pay the people back. Anything else will just cost us all more money. Get your act together SSA and quit passing out these benefits to lowlifes.

The first question I asked too was are there no background checks for hiring people in ths type of job.I am always amazed everytime I read about people stealing money. The most recent a woman comptroller stole $53 million in a town in Illinois.over a 20 year period to support her opulent life style. You keep asking how were they able to do this for so long? I say lengthy jail terms, but will this deter others? Probably not. so sad.

Where in the story did it indicate that Chess had a previous record? If she didn't have a record what good would a background check have done?

This is nothing compared to the Social Security theft that will occur courtesy of the Democrats and Repbulilcans in the next months. At least these crooks were never on a ballot.

These folks are as bad as it gets. Stealing money from decent hard working people to fund an upgraded lifestyles for themselves. Make sure the 100% restitution I hope they are forced to pay includes heavy penalties and interest. We need to set examples of the scum that prey upon the hard working, taxpaying citizens.
