Most changes affect salaried office workers, but not hourly employees of the grocery giant's warehouses and stores.

This does not surprise me. I can't wait for the current union agreement ends and a new one is talk about - I bet the union workers will also get their benefits cut - and they should!

FORWARD!!!!!!! You will be seeing a lot of this kind of scenario over the next few years. OBAMACARE. Thanks voters. You will be getting what you asked for. I'd rathole some dough if I were you.

Note that "Salaried Workers" does NOT include executives who have separate employment contracts. Wake me when they take a 20% CUT across the board in their total benefits (pay, insurance, corporate credit, company cars, executive staff, stock options, etc.) to "help the company to profitability."

Obama is not responsible for Supervalu's continuing decline, which has been going on for years.

Not to mention that we can tell who the Romney voters are. A business makes a bad business decision, and suddenly it's the rank and file who need to lose more money and more benefits and have fewer worker protections. Because you know, we couldn't possibly cut the CEO's pay or benefits. That would be unthinkable.

The article says nothing about any costs related to the federal health care bill. Rather, it states that the chain has been struggling financially for a long time. Considering most of Obamacare hasn't even gone into effect yet, any business that blames their problems on the health care bill is either (1) a horribly managed business or (2) putting their workers' livelihoods at stake for political vindictiveness.

Right. And the numerous other businesses that will be dropping coverage and benefits over the next few years, that will be because of Bush, right? Get a clue, deep thinker.

Hey "notforward"-- it's perfectly o.k. for you to hate Obama, but if you think SuperValu's problems are due to "Obamacare", then you either aren't very familiar with SuperValu (See "Albertson's, purchase of") or you are in some form of huge denial.

Do you think other businesses will be dropping benefits over the next few years? Why do you think that is? I don't hate Obama, but I'm not to fond of people who voted for such an unqualified fool. Buckle up, and get ready for "forward." A lot of really dim people in America.

The article doesn't say anything about cutting health benefits. Did all the companies in 2008/2009 who cut benefits also do so because of Obamacare, or did they do it because their sales were down and they couldn't afford the benefits?
