The situation here is at a boiling point and code red for an all-out war. The US has to defend Israel while at the same time, its surgical strike recently killing 9 top Hamas leaders is that which triggered the rocket-launching strikes from Palestine. There are no innocent parties on this stage. Further, Israel recently once again began expanding settlements further into Palestinian territory, hardly a good will gesture for peace talks. It's conceivable that Netanyahu, a known hard-line right man, will escalate this situation into an all-out war. He's already rattling the saber saying he'll "put boots on the ground". IMO, Israel has gone way past merely "defending itself" by relentlessly expanding into Palestinian territory and basically choking off Palestinians resources. As I said, there are no innocent parties in this culture war.
Why do we care if Gaza is firing rockets at Israel? This is none of our business. We are out of IRaq. We are out of The Stan. Our guy (Obama) told us we had no business telling other people how to live their lives, which is why we're getting out of the Middle East. If Gaza and Hamas want to bomb Israel, that's their God-given right. If Israel wants to fight back, that's their God-given right. It is none of our business. Let 'em eat cake.
