I just reached my 14th month of sobriety. Before I started drinking heavily I was around 170 and after years of drinking and bar food I topped around 240. I've already dropped around 35 pounds. I am disgusted with the weight gain however I realize I had a problem and found a solution.
Is mayor nanny (Bloomberg) going to limit alcohol serving size in NY based on this report? Nope. Hypocrite.
the story headline should read "if you drink". if you don't drink, you have no problem.

I can't drink soda pop anymore, more than the very occasional small glass. Something about the sugar and the acidity really upsets my stomach. Lucky me. I see some of my kids' friends, though, who can go through a 12-pack of soda a day. That would be 2 @ 2 liter bottles a day, or nearly 1700 calories a day from soda pop alone. That's really the problem, along with the acidity and its effects on teeth and the guts. It would take a nearly-professional drinker to do that day after day. We've never had pop in the house, so my kids never got into that habit. Allowed free reign, they can put the stuff away like that though. All in all, it isn't the pop or the alcohol that are the problems in and of themselves. It's the fact that people think so little about what they are putting in their bodies overall. It's a grim little irony that in America, the poor people are fat because processed foods rich in sugar, salt, calories and fat are cheap; while the wealthier and more aware tend to be thin, eating a diet of more expensive actual food which provides balanced nutrients our bodies were designed to process healthfully.
I just checked and soda ie club soda has 0 calories. Perhaps you don't mean soda, but rather soft drinks.
Make mine a Jack and Coke!!
