Expectations of four years ago are all but gone, allowing senior Rodney Williams to play relaxed and become the star athlete the Gophers envisioned.

I love the Gophers and respect Tubby, but recruiting was expected to be one of his strengths. In his years here recruiting has not been a strong point. And this year is another so-so effort. Watching the Wisconsin game tonight the announcer said Florida's two recruits were rated in the top ten in the country. I don't think we can compete with the top teams if Tubby and his guys can't improve their recruiting. How about opening a spot for Double T? Saul should probably resign anyway.

Williams has shown he can play at a high level over the course of a few games, which is good for the team. The big questions reaming, can he be a good mid range shooter? Can he raise his level of play to the moment and take over big games for us? Can he soar to the top player in the big ten? I think he has the talent, mindset and experience to do it. This could be a very special season!!!

I wish him well and hope that after three years of hype and almosts and flashes of talent, Williams gets it and can put together a strong season against good opposition. I mean the highlight reel dunks are great and exciting but the really important thing is to be a dominant player against high quality teams including the Blue Devils who the Gophers play shortly...and then against the good conference teams as well.

Here was a kid that was hyped as "NBA-Ready" freshman, but grew into the role of a starter only last year with Mbakwe being injured. He's got the body of a 3 did well as the 4. With Mbakwe back, we'll see how much he can contribute when the defy him to shoot the three. He could be great if he could get inside and dish to Trevor. They'd be an incredible combination.

What makes Rodney "NBA-Ready" is his leaping ability. He was never brought here as a shooter, but as someone who could score when given the ball near the basket. There really wasn't a place for him to use his skills in his first two years. We all saw what he could do last year when injuries set in. If he can continue to develop/score with Trevor back, he will have proven that he really has matured as a player. I am excited to see what Rodney and our Gophs can do in 2013.

He stayed (he had to) all four years and worked hard. He deserves to finally excel. He has also matured as a person. Can't say that about Royce White.

Rodney is really not a great BB player. He can do some things well (dunk for example) but his game is filled with weaknesses. He will never play at "the next level."
