Noticed LTE service with my iPhone 5 last Friday! Pretty fast...average speed was about 20 Mbps (down) / 20 Mbps (up). I did have some early results at about 42 Mbps (down) / 17 Mbps (up). It's certainly not in all areas - they must have an enabled tower close in Northwest Twin Cities...strongest in Maple Grove area. It will be nice when its more prevalent.

Great. When will ATT increase the data plan caps? I will blow through my pathetic low cap in minutes with 4G.

40 Mbps at Broadway and Johnson, 24 at 7 Corners and I'm getting 14-18 at my condo. I'm going to hotspot my phone and use it for my ISP. (iPhone 5 LTE)

Just some clarification, I think "4G-lite" is iffy terminology. I prefer calling it 3.5G, since HSPA+ is an enhanced version of AT&T's 3G network. T-Mobile also offers HSPA+ but is way behind building out their next gen network since the AT&T merger fell through. Verizon's 3G CDMA network can't be enhanced further, hence them going all-in on 4G LTE ahead of everyone else. Sprint also has 3G CDMA and invested in building a 4G WIMAX network (via Clear), which they're now running from and scrambling to build an LTE network instead. I call that the Betamax of 4G wireless.

Never been a fan of AT&T. Had them as a provider once and the service was horrendous! Drop call non-stop. Haven't had any problem with Verizon since I switched. Would not recommend AT&T!!!!!

LTE is long term evolution. It was originally what 4G was supposed to be. When HSPA+ came out and it was faster, then they started coining that as 4G. People just wanted to take advantage of the marketing for the new Number. LTE is what ATT has now fully turned up. 4G is a slower speed so the two really don't have much to do with each other.

I have been an AT&T for years; so long ago that I am actually grandfathered in for the truly unlimited data. I have seen my iPhone 5 flip in and out of LTE ever since I got it. Down on the U of M campus I noticed download speeds anywhere between 26 and 40Mbps. Now, hurry the hell up and roll it out everywhere.

What!?! AT&T has been claiming to be as fast as Verizon all this time and they weren't? Who would have believed it?
