Petraeus, head of the CIA, was "blinded" by a clearly unbalanced woman who was threatening a "socialite" who received numerous emails from Allen, and you don't see a problem? Both generals are on the government payroll ( i.e. paid by taxpayers) unlike reporters, lobbyists, etc. Both have huge responsibilities. Way different from a sailor on shore leave. Where was their focus?
Unless you have served in the military, you may never understand why Petraeus lost his job. This is much larger than just an average affair between people. This showcases lack of judgment, which is what these leaders are paid for! Petraeus is using EMAIL, which we all know lasts forever, to foster this relationship, which he knows is improper. I have seen much lower level miliary officers lose their jobs over this very same offense. What message does it send to the lower level military personnel if we allow the top dogs to get away with this? Anyone who thinks this should just be swept under the rug really doesn't understand how the military works and why this is the only outcome.
While I certainly am disappointed by this boorish and frankly idiotic behavior, I think the Pentagon gave 52% of the Americans and the illegals that voted on November 6th some of that stupid juice!
This not a new concept. President Eisenhower had a well-known but unpublicized affair in the service. Commander-in-Chief twice. Media, mostly white males, looked the other way then. Petraus was widely seen as repubs "new" Eisenhower and possible future candidate until now. Very talented man; we have lost a very qualified leader of CIA and example of bi-partisan leadership (Repub appointed by Dem).Time to move on...this is not 8th grade.
